How to install

Make sure you have a fresh copy of TRLE installed

Make sure you have the revised Catacomb WAD in your trle\graphics\wads directory
(you can download it here)

For best playing experience, make sure you turn Volumetric FX and Bump Mapping ON in the trle Setup

Installation of Full Version – Large

Simply put all the TR4 files into the trle\data directory and the script.dat and English.dat into the trle root directory and you are ready to go.

Installation of Full Version – Small

First, extract all the TOM files into the trle\graphics\wads directory and the script.dat and English.dat into the trle root directory.

For each of the TOM files you now need to do the following steps:

a. Go to the trle\graphics\wads directory

b. delete the Catacomb.TOM file

c. Remember the name of the original Back to Basics TOM file and then rename it to Catacomb.TOM 

d. Convert the Catacomb.TOM file into the Catacomb.TR4 using the converter (ie run tom2pc.exe from the trle root directory)

e. Go to the trle\data directory

f. Rename the Catacomb.TR4 you just created into <original name>.TR4

!!! IMPORTANT: The Level 'Pseudo Tomb' needs to be converted with the ORIGINAL Catacomb WAD (not the revised one)

Installation of individual Levels

By clicking on the levelname on the main Back to Basics page, you can download each level individually rather than all levels in one package.

For those, extract the Catacomb.TOM file into the trle\graphics\wads directory and the script.dat and English.dat into the trle root directory.

Convert the Catacomb.TOM file into the Catacomb.TR4 using the converter (ie run tom2pc.exe from the trle root directory) and you are ready to play the level.
